Focus: Julius Stibbe

Focus is a new series of emails from LANGart in which we put the spotlight on one of the gallery’s artists. In the current era, in which we have had to significantly reduce personal contact, it seemed a good idea to make the person behind the art more visible. Next up in this serie is Julius Stibbe.

As you might know we currently have a solo show with Julius Stibbe at the location of our colleague Roger Katwijk (Prinsengracht 737). Due to the succes we have decided to extend the exhibition and we have added new available works which were in the Centraal Museum (Utrecht) exhibition. The exhibition “Met de Tijd” wordt verlengd tot en met 22 mei 2021.

We have to be honest, Julius Stibbe was recommended to us by an artist. We immediately took action and asked for a studio visit. The works looked great on the internet but when we arrived at his studio we were blown away by this young, talented, friendly and humble artist’s powerful and unique work. We agreed to make a solo exhibition April 2020. Due to the pandemic we postponed the exhibition.

At a very young age Julius Stibbe graduated from the HKU and was invited to the “Best of Graduates” exhibition at Gallerie Ron Mandos. We praise the fact that Julius Stibbe took his time and decided to explore and develop his own signature for a few years by working on a daily basis in his studio.

Luckily for Julius Stibbe, he had other plans for 2020 which weren’t postponed. Such as the exhibition “Voorlopig voltooid” in Centraal Museum Utrecht. Although due to the pandemic and the regulations only a few were able to enjoy this exhibition. Therefore we are extra happy that the solo exhibition of Julius Stibbe in collaboration with and at the location of Roger Katwijk Gallery  (Prinsengracht 737) will be extended til May 22, 2021. In these weeks we will show new works, the works from the Centraal Museum Utrecht exhibition.

Saturday April 16, 2021 we finally opened the solo exhibition “Met de Tijd” in collaboration with Roger Katwijk Gallery and artist Sander Reijgers. The response has been overwhelming and we look forward to making plans for future exhibitions with Julius Stibbe.

Soon we will launch the Podcast of Julius Stibbe as the first in our podcast serie hosted by Nienke van der Wal, founder of the Young Collectors Circle.
